In a spiritual world of quick fixes and vague emotion, is it crazy to believe there is still a place for insights based on simple, basic, theological understanding. I believe it is worth exploring.

A Touch of Humor - The Head Count
How important are numbers in understanding the health of a church? What is the right perspective on this?
Hard to evaluate purely on numbers. In some areas there is simply a population limitation. If that is not the case then I think that congregational growth is not a bad benchmark albeit not the predominant one. Healthy living things usually grow.
I think healthy things grow, but they grow at their own rate and speed. Obviously it is one thing to look at but to be preoccupied with numbers is in my opinion a mistake. Particularly given that people can be attracted to appearance rather than substance.
