A Touch of Humor - The Question

Can electronic interaction replace going to church? Why or why not? What benefits do we obtain from going to church?

  1. Electronic interaction cannot replace being in community with our brothers and sisters. I have a former friend who thinks some preacher she watches on tv is her pastor. She has a lot of issues and no community to help her deal with them.

  2. I like the way that co_heir does church and wish I lived closer to him. :)

I do think that one can watch a church service ( we did streaming church for a few years) as long as you find fellowship in a small group or some other way.

  3. I excerpted a few of our pastor's thoughts about this here.

  4. I agree that community is key. If all we are looking for is the watch a performance than we may find something better at home on the TV. But that misses a major part of the point of gathering with God's people.

  5. Bob, it's ironic that our small gathering has dwindled to about three of us. The good new is that Jan and I have found true community in a more traditional church setting. We gather around the table for a meal before the "service," and we get together a couple of times through the week. So, even though it is different than what we were doing, it is still community centered around Jesus. We are grateful for that.
