In a spiritual world of quick fixes and vague emotion, is it crazy to believe there is still a place for insights based on simple, basic, theological understanding. I believe it is worth exploring.
Bible buzzwords are the worst. Interesting that Jesus did not use many of them. :)
ReplyDeleteJesus seemed to have a knack for saying profound things in simple language. An example to imitate. But I am convinced that the in general that language actually used in the Bible was ordinary language when it was written, time and sometimes our attempts to read things in has made it more technical.
DeleteMostly I think about religious buzzwords like propitiation, sanctification, salvation, baptism, atonement, redemption and the like. words that folks are not familiar with before they come to faith.
ReplyDeleteI agree and I think a lot of this time (and the fact they are not a normal part of our current culture) and the desire to be technical have made the concepts unfamiliar. But we need to try to explain things to people, especially unbelievers and not just throw things around as empty buzzwords.
