In a spiritual world of quick fixes and vague emotion, is it crazy to believe there is still a place for insights based on simple, basic, theological understanding. I believe it is worth exploring.

Old Erich Proverb - Culture
We need to mold our culture to fit the Word of God, not the Word of God to fit our culture.
While I do not think any culture this side of the Second Coming will ever perfectly reflect Christian values. I believe the ideals to work for should be real justice in society including working to help the poor and oppressed and downtrodden.
I do not this would mainly effected by passing laws (though there may be some place for that). But by influencing people's heart attitudes.
I think that the religious folks who started hospitals and schools got it right. I think that our public school system was begun by religious folks. Many of our universities too. Even so, these places over time secularized. Perhaps it speaks to how faith is very difficult to pass on to future generations?
Our culture seems to have been moving in a secular direction for some time and taking all its institutions with it. I think that to stem the tide we need to move out of maintenance mode and start again from the beginning reaching out to people. But it is clear we have not been able to consistently pass the faith on.
What do you think our culture would look like if that happened?
