In a spiritual world of quick fixes and vague emotion, is it crazy to believe there is still a place for insights based on simple, basic, theological understanding. I believe it is worth exploring.

Old Erich Proverb - Prayer
Prayer is not about getting the things we want, but learning to trust the only true Giver.
I struggle with your definition Mike. On one hand I really believe that my prayer life is a reflection of how much I trust God. On the other hand I read Jesus saying "ask and it will be given to you" and think that it is a good things to ask God for things that agree with his will being done on in my life and the lives of those I love.
I struggle with this to. It is hard to cover all aspects of a thing in a quick proverb. I certainly am not saying we should not want the good things God has to give or that He does not give them. But I believe building the trust relationship is more important then the specific things obtained.
