God is not amused by our efforts to be our own gods; He knows how unrealistic this is.

    I think that being made in the image of God often gives us god-complexes when we are young. This fades as we age and realize how little we actually control.

      There is a lot of truth in that, though I have known some older people who even then refuse to let go of the idea they are in control.

      Could be. Though when I think of how many years it has taken God to pound into my head I am not it control, even though I in theory knew better to begin with. And how I still struggle with it. I think there is a certain amount of craziness in a lot of us.
