In a spiritual world of quick fixes and vague emotion, is it crazy to believe there is still a place for insights based on simple, basic, theological understanding. I believe it is worth exploring.

A Touch of Humor - The New Assignment
How do we avoid twisting people's arms to fill positions? What do we do when no one volunteers?
There is a very legitimate question of how many programs we really need. My chief concern is that there is a way an individual can come to understand and own their faith. I am not convinced our family friendly programs really do this. But I am also of the impression the Roman Catholic system does not do well here either. Perhaps some middle ground would work better.
Funny that there is never a lack of volunteers to preach. Perhaps the answer to your question is understanding why. :)
ReplyDeleteAre you implying that more people desire the limelight, then are willing to be servants. :)
DeletePossibly. It does seem that many of the "volunteer" openings are the ones that the "professionals" are not interested in. :)
DeleteSo what do suggest we do to change the situation?
DeleteTry the Roman Catholic model?
ReplyDeleteIn what way?
DeleteRoman Catholics do not have all of the family friendly (i.e. volunteer intensive) programs that many churches have.
