In a spiritual world of quick fixes and vague emotion, is it crazy to believe there is still a place for insights based on simple, basic, theological understanding. I believe it is worth exploring.

Old Erich Proverb - Rose -Colored
Which is more clearly rose-colored glasses, to believe in God or to believe human beings are basically good?
I would agree with the newness but there is also a remnant of the old us that fights it (Galatians 5:17). The Christian life is compared to a race and a battle. We are people in process who have not yet reached our destination. For me the right attitude is to have the confidence that God is at work in us to conform us to the image of Christ and the humility to know we are not there yet, but still have a long way to go.
(I apologize for taking so long to respond to your comments. I have good days and bad days and sometimes it is hard to get anything beyond the absolutely necessary done.)
Or if the Christian believes they have a new good heart. Some have been convinced that their hearts are desperately wicked.
ReplyDeleteI see Christians as caught in the paradox of a struggle between a good evil nature. Not totally one or the other.
DeleteHow do you see the new creation (2Cor 5:17)? Do your believe that God gave us a new (good) heart when we were saved?
DeleteIn my view the challenge of life for a believer is to grow, exercise and strengthen the new heart so that it is able to overcome our carnal desires.
