Can we make things more complicated and difficult than they need to be? How can we avoid this?

    There are very few things that are not complicated. I think that we do ourselves a disservice when we seek to simplify complex things.

      I think it can go both ways. It is possible to over-simplify things, but it is also possible to over complicate them. I have seen both in theology with problematic results.
