when life seems dark and hope is far away

In a spiritual world of quick fixes and vague emotion, is it crazy to believe there is still a place for insights based on simple, basic, theological understanding. I believe it is worth exploring.
This is so true. Many criticize the theology Joel Osteen and never recognize the inspirational aspects of his preaching. Would that boring "theologically correct" preachers could understand that their mission is not only to teach the scriptures but to inspire their listeners to live the scriptures. And no, I do not want to debate Osteen. ツ
ReplyDeleteAh, and here I thought a debate between you and Osteen would be fun. Or maybe I am missing your meaning. :)
DeleteSimply talking about inspiration vs boredom.
DeleteKidding aside, I need to be honest. I have never gotten past Joel Osteen's message enough to listen to him on a regular basis. Maybe I have missed something worthwhile, but I really cannot speak to whether he is a good example to imitate on a practical level. So I agree with you that inspiration is better than boredom, I really cannot speak to the specific example.
DeletePerhaps a biblically dispassionate person is not capable of inspiring when they teach? Consider how enthusiasm means being full of God.
DeleteI am not sure what you mean by the biblically dispassionate person. If you are saying a person who believes the Bible cannot be inspiring, I would disagree with you. But I am not sure if that is at all what you mean. Could you clarify?
DeleteNot passionate about what they believe. Teaching without a passion for what they are teaching.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure that is how I would use the term dispassionate, but I agree that teaching without passion is a bad thing.
