We must hope in God's mercy, his general mercy, even when we cannot find a particular promise to stay ourselves upon. A humble confidence in the goodness of God's nature is very pleasing to him, as that which turns to the glory of that attribute in which he most glories.

The only thing that has got me through the death of a wife, my son's drug addiction, daughter teen pregnancy and my wife's ongoing wheelchair disability is knowing that God loves me. I think that is why I am drawn to Christus Victor and other views that see God in more friendlier terms.
